ISM Company function & DPA
Where appointed and within the applicable DOC scope, management of the Company’s ISM responsibilities, the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) function, clear ship–shore reporting lines, adequate shore support and 24/7 coordination of urgent safety and operational matters.
SMS, implementation & document control
Company- and vessel-specific SMS, including the safety and environmental-protection policy, the Master’s ultimate authority and responsibility, procedures and checklists for key shipboard operations, controlled documents and records, crew and shore-staff familiarisation and training, and verification of practical implementation on board.
Technical superintendent & planned maintenance
Day-to-day technical oversight, PMS planning and follow-up, condition monitoring, periodic inspections, maintenance records and coordination with the Master and Chief Engineer.
Defects, critical equipment & reliability
Defect and breakdown registers, cause follow-up, critical-equipment identification and testing, reliability measures, service planning and documented close-out.
Class, Flag, statutory surveys & PSC
Survey and certificate planning, correspondence and attendance, follow-up of conditions of class and statutory findings, and readiness for Flag, Class and Port State Control.
Repairs, dry-docking & technical projects
Repair specifications, tendering and bid comparison, budgets, yard and contractor coordination, technical supervision, quality control, testing, acceptance and final records.
Spares, services & technical budgets
Technical identification and procurement of parts, lubricants and services; maker liaison, logistics, stock control, OPEX planning, expenditure monitoring and owner approvals.
Audits, risk, incidents & continuous compliance
Internal ISM, ISPS and MLC audits, management reviews, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, incident and near-miss investigation, CAPA, regulatory monitoring and owner reporting.
